ICT Tools for Listening Comprehension Activities

Many years ago, it was extremely difficult to find authentic and meaningful recordings that could be adapted to carry out productive listening comprehension activities. Fortunately, those times are gone. The brief list you will find below is a sample of the wealth of resources you can use nowadays to help your students develop strong listening skills.

TEFL Tunes Here you will find tons of songs lesson plans for students from beginner to advanced levels, classified according to specific themes.


VoiceThread This website facilitates to carry out collaborative activities that involve images, documents and videos. You can create and share your own Voicethreads with explanations, actitivities and feedback. It requires registration.


TalkEnglish This is a resource where you can find beginner, intermediate and advanced listening and speaking lessons that include audio recordings and questionnaires.


ESLFast Lots of recordings and scripts for you to include in your lesson plans!


Elllo This English Listening Library Online offers lots of free listening activities that include interviews with various speakers talking about a wide range of topics, dialogues and monologues, animated news stories and games.


ESLKidsLab If you are teaching children, you will find this website really useful. It offers teaching materials for different levels and learning styles, which include video lessons, flashcards and exercises.
